Oh What a Wonderful Weekend
Hey guys! Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. This weekend went by in such a blur - a happy, crazy, colorful blur! When you become a mom - ok, I won't generalize here... When I became a mom, social engagements really took a backseat. I knew things were different, I felt myself changing. Some people use the analogy of a butterfly going through metamorphosis, others that of getting to know the new you that is born right along with your baby.
I can relate to all of these. I felt like I could no longer be the social person that I once was, or rather, I couldn't be social in quite the same way. Before, weekend trips to LA were no thang. Vegas? Sure! With a little one, though, long car rides were out of the question. Heck, even short ones were out of the question for the first few months.
We are coming to a point where I feel like she is ready for more adventures. This was Ximena's first tip to Los Angeles! She did really well on the two-ish hour car ride up. She slept, we played, we sang (to Elmo's Song a million times, of course). While she had obviously met her Tia Jacette before, she had never had the chance to hang out with her in The City of Angels.
When we got there, we went straight away to my Kelly Baker Brows appointment. Check out this before-and-after shot. Aren't they fabulous?!
After getting glammed up, we ventured over to Cafe Gratitude, where each order is placed in the form of a positive affirmation. I had 'I Am Mucho'; Jacette had 'I Am Humble'; and Pita had 'I Am Magical'. Ximena had some yummy raw avocado.
Bellies full, and thirty good-bye selfies later, we hit the road to get back home.
That's when we remembered... Friday afternoon, just after 3:00PM... TRAFFIC! It was awful. What should have been a two-ish hour car ride home, turned into a six to seven hour feat. My poor, sweet baby! We stopped A LOT to let the little one rest her back, and roll around in the trunk (sounds strange, I know, but look how happy she looks above). Thankfully, we made it. HUGE shout-out to my sister, who drove so that I could sit in the back with the little one.
Saturday, M and I had our very first mini get-away as a couple since X's arrival. We attended a sweet wedding that was filled with love, and SO. MUCH. COLOR. It was amazing.
Just look at the brilliant centerpieces!
Obviously I had to document my #shoegame in between pumping sessions. Since it was an outdoor venue, I had to run to the car a couple of times to get it done.
On Sunday, my sidekick and I wrapped up the weekend at the Polo Grounds for the last of Polo Sunday's. It was such a relaxed vibe. We lounged on blankets in the grass, under some delicious shade, as the smell of tacos wafted through the air. Needless to say, we are the kind of happy-exhausted only the weekend can bring, and we are ready to take on the week. Have a good one, everyone!
